CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHTING SERVICE

BURNING BOWL SERVICE: Sunday, January 1st at 10:30 a.m.
We will begin the New Year by letting go of habits, outworn beliefs, ideas, etc. We will also draw our Angel of the year who will support us in our continual growth and enlightenment.
NEW MEMBER CLASS: Saturday mornings starting January 7th through February 18th
Ann Armstrong, a licensed Unity teacher, will be offering the New Member class on Saturday mornings beginning January 7 and going through February 18. (Saturday, February 4, the class will be attending Cindy’s work-shop).
TAIZE HEALING PRAYER SERVICE: Sunday morning, January 8th at 10:30 a.m.
Come and participate in our Taize service at 10:30 Sunday morning, January 8. Taize is a meditative sacred service of songs, readings, and prayer creating an atmosphere to deepen our oneness with God. We have celebrated the birth and nurtured our Holy presence within ourselves and others during the Christmas season. Epiphany was a time when the three kings brought gifts to the baby Jesus. As we gather for a Sunday Taize service let us receive the gifts of Epiphany. We have to let go of error thinking at our burning bowl ceremony to clear a place in our heart, mind, and body for the gifts Spirit is offering.
TAI CHI: MOVING FOR BALANCE: Tuesdays and Thursdays starting January 10th through March 1st at 6:00 p.m.
There are eight single forms in the pro-gram, all of which are derived from the traditional well-known 24-form Yang Style Tai Chi, but tailored to adults who wish to improve balance and mobility. There are several health benefits to practicing Tai Chi.
• Improved strength, conditioning, coordination and flexibility
• Reduced pain and stiffness
• Better balance and lower risk of falls
• Enhanced sleep
• Greater awareness, calmness, and overall sense of well being

ENLIGHTENED LEADER WEBINAR: Thursday, January 12th at 7:00 p.m.
The Webinar presenter is Corinne McLaughlin and the focus is "The Practical Visionary: How to Become One and Co-Create a New World." Did you know there's a new world growing amidst the old one? You can become a catalyst for this new world by shifting from what's dying to what's being born.
What does this mean for the Unity community today? How can we collectively respond to the opportunity to co-create a new and better world? We can do so by becoming practical visionaries – able to see the vision but also effective at bringing it into the everyday world. We can change ourselves and change the world at the same time if we become practical visionaries. Our leadership will be more successful if we have a balanced expression of heart, mind, will, love, intelligence and purpose.
Practical visionaries are awake and their eyes are on the horizon, their feet are on the ground and their hearts are on fire. A prac-tical visionary has an intuitive, positive vision of the future, developing effective skills and sensible strategies to implement that vision and meet urgent human needs. Visionary doesn't have to mean unrealistic or illusionary. While vision essentially comes from the higher spiritual dimensions, being practical is responding creatively to what's needed, appropriate and timely today--and it's equally sacred.
ENLIGHTENED LEADER POST-WEBINAR MEETING: Thursday, January 19th at 7:00 p.m.
There will be a Post-Webinar meeting in the Sanctuary. This will be a time to discuss ways of applying the material in our lives and in our Unity community! Everyone is welcome to attend the Webinar and the Post-Webinar to learn how to make our collective dreams a reality in meaningful and functional ways!

Food Drive - Sundays
Abundance Corner - Sundays
From time to time, our own spiritual community has people who need assistance to make it through to the end of the month. Because of this, we decided to create the Abundance Corner, which is in the unused storage area in the Bookstore, next to the restroom. Please bring nonperishable food items and items such as toilet paper, paper towels and such to share with our own folks.
If you are having trouble making it to the end of the month, please go to the Abundance Corner and take what you need. There are sacks beside the shelves in the Abundance Corner for your use.
CD's of Each Sunday Service - Available within 30 minutes after each Service
We are now able to put the full Sunday Service onto CD's for purchase in the Bookstore. The CD's are digital high-quality and contain everything from the service except announcements. Also, each section of the service is placed as a track on the CD so you are able to go to whatever track you are most interested in. The CD's are $5.00, which is payable in the Bookstore and available approximately 30 minutes after each service.
Partner With A Teen Program
The Unity of Salem Youth Education Department has a new opportunity for the congregation, its "Partner with a Teen" program. This program's intention is to make it possible for the Y.O.U. (high school age) and Uniteens (middle schoolers) to attend regional retreats AND to provide intergenerational connection within our spiritual community. The teens put on a number of fundraisers during the year. This raises about half the money needed for the eligible students to attend. Two events are scheduled for this summer. The events average $200 per person attending. We have several YOUers and a large number of Uniteens eligible to attend. You could participate in this program by writing an extra check for $100, marking it "Partner with a Teen" and putting it in the Sunday offering. We so appreciate several of the congregation who did just that the very first Sunday it was mentioned. There will be an opportunity for each teen to connect with his/her Partner to share about their experience.

contact office for refundWe are truly blessed to tell you that Neale Donald Walsch and his wife Em Clair are going to be featured here at Unity of Salem. They will be offering a workshop from 10:00 to 5:00 on Satur-day, March 3, 2012. The tickets are $75 and are on sale now by calling the of-fice.
Neale and Em will present a workshop entitled Shifting from Surviving to Evolving. They will invite the partici-pants to answer seven simple questions that could inspire a new level of spiritual awareness and launch a new kind of spiritual practice in all our lives – at a level that could fundamentally alter the times ahead.
Neale says, “It is time to shift the ongo-ing discussion from how we can survive to how we can evolve.”
Mark your calendar, plan to attend, and tell your friends about this wonderful opportunity to enjoy Neale and his wife, Em, in the familiarity of our own Spiritual Home.

Pathfinders - A discussion of applying Unity principles in daily life. The group is led by Ed and Kay Lent. They discuss "how to walk our talk" while applying Unity principles. Everyone is welcome! Pathfinders meets the first and third Sunday's of each month from September through May in the Bookstore at 9:00 a.m. Pathfinders starts back on September 18th.
Noetic Science - First and third Sundays, 6:00-8:30 pm, in the Y.O.U. room in the modular (Building D).

A Course In Miracles (ACIM) Meeting - 7:00 p.m., Rev. Mark Spencer, a Religious Science minister, facilitates this ACIM group meeting, held in the bookstore. The group is open to new members.
Tuesday
Following the individual healings from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m., Roger and Diane continue to facilitate a book discussion group based on Dr. Zhi Gang Sha’s Soul Power series.
Everyone is welcome to attend either or both of these powerful experiences. A donation of $10.00 is collected at the door.

AA Group Meeting - 7:30 p.m. in the Bookstore
Thursday
Noon Meditation and brown-bag lunch - in the Modular.
Art and Practice Focus Group - Second and fourth Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. in the Modular. Joan Manuel is facilitating a group for people who have taken the "Art and Practice of Living with Nothing and No One Against You." They will be discussing the material on the second and fourth Thursdays at 1:00 p.m., in the modular. No sign up needed, just come when you can! The only requirement is that you have taken the class!
